ART ON DISPLAY AT THE INN:

Barn Painting

The Garretts' love of art began very early on in their relationship. Going back to one of their first dates, Ryan took Jillian to one of his favorite art galleries (knowing that she loved oil paintings). After wandering around there for about an hour, Ryan kept asking Jillian's opinion on pieces (which paintings she liked most and why, etc.). Of course, being the rather obtuse individual that she is, Jillian had no idea that it would lead any further than a simple interest in learning her leanings toward art...Well, a month or so passed and Yule arrived. Come to find out, after the date, Ryan had gone back to the gallery and bought one of the few art pieces that Jillian had liked and that he could actually afford: a small painting of a barn in autumn. He was even able to meet the artist while he was paying for it! Jillian was thrilled, and told Ryan that it was the most wonderful present she had ever received!! The painting now hangs proudly above their bed in the Innkeepers' Quarters downstairs.

The Apothecary Inn is proud to display over 40 oil paintings (all but 3 are originals), as well as several watercolors and sketches. While some of the paintings have been done by family members, many are the work of well-known artists such as Henry Hemi, Heinz Munnich, H. Kerber, MAIO, and Y.W. Leung.

The inn's newest acquisition - a painting by Y.W. Leung measuring roughly 7 feet long by 3 feet tall - is proudly displayed in the living room over the antique couch. It depicts Chinese Junks (or sailboats) at sea.
